I’m running because I care deeply about the future of this place. Like many residents, I’ve been concerned about the significant property tax increases in recent years and the pace of development. Too often it feels like forests are being cleared for subdivisions without enough thought for the impact on our community, our infrastructure, and the natural character that makes Wasaga special.
I want to be a strong, independent voice on Council that puts residents first. I am focused on keeping taxes under control, protecting what makes this town unique, and making sure growth happens responsibly so we can continue to enjoy safe neighbourhoods and a high quality of life for years to come.

I am a multigeneration Wasaga Beach resident and a City of Barrie Firefighter. This town isn’t just a place I decided to run in. Wasaga Beach is where I was raised and where I’m raising my own family.
I’m not part of any team or slate. I’m running as an independent voice because I believe Council works best when members put residents first, not political alliances. I respectfully disagree with some current directions, especially on property tax increases and the pace of development. I prefer to focus on the issues and work toward practical solutions.
My priorities are straightforward: keeping taxes under control, protecting the character of Wasaga Beach while still welcoming responsible growth. Growing up in this town It pains me to see the green spaces being cleared out so aggressively.
Big changes should benefit the resident tax payer directly. Tourism is important to Wasaga Beach, but I don’t believe improvements for visitors should come at a significant cost to local taxpayers. These investments should be structured so they pay for themselves as much as possible. The goal should be for tourism to ease pressure on local taxpayers, not add to it.
I’m here to listen, work hard, and make decisions that put the long term health of this community ahead of short term politics.

Description text goes hereI am committed to opposing any expenditure that lacks a clear plan or purpose. I believe every proposal reaching Council requires a thorough review to ensure it provides genuine value to our residents. You deserve to see tangible benefits from your tax dollars, not just a steadily increasing financial burden.
Furthermore, I will advocate for expanding our commercial and tourism revenue streams. The goal is to ensure that development actually alleviates the weight on residential property taxes instead of increasing it. My priority is always fiscal responsibility, making sure your money is working directly for this community.
Tourism should help support our community, not the other way around. Residents shouldn’t be asked to carry the cost of making Wasaga better for visitors.

When the idea of Beach One was first proposed, I supported the concept of adding a hotel and commercial space. I believed it could strengthen our local economy and help take some pressure off residential taxpayers.
Now that the detailed site plans are public, I’m disappointed. The current design puts hotels next to condos next to rows of townhouses. It feels dense and commercial, with very little that feels welcoming or useful for local families.
If elected, my position is straightforward: The current Beach One project should be completed on time and on budget. We have already invested significant time and money, and walking away now would only cost residents more.
Once this project is finished, I will take a strong stance against any new residential development on beachfront property. Our beach is one of the most special things about Wasaga Beach, and we need to protect it for the people who live here and for future generations.

I support moving to a ward system.
Wasaga Beach is growing quickly, and different parts of town often face different challenges — from new subdivisions in the east and west ends, to beachfront issues, to established neighbourhoods. A ward system would give every area of town a clearer voice at the Council table and make it easier for residents to know exactly who represents their neighbourhood.
Right now, under the at-large system, every councillor is elected by the whole town. That can work, but it also means some areas can feel overlooked while others have stronger influence. Wards help fix that by creating more direct accountability.
If voters support the change, the Mayor would still be elected by everyone in town. Only the councillor positions would be elected by ward. I believe this would lead to better local representation while still keeping a town wide perspective on big decisions.
I encourage everyone to learn about the question and vote. It’s an important decision about how we want to be represented going forward.

I will make my positions clear and explain my reasoning as best I can. I believe healthy debate is essential to good decision making. At the same time, I respect decorum and will always keep disagreements professional, never personal or confrontational.
I believe My even keeled, slow to anger temperament will help me contribute to a more stable and respectful Council.
I can respectfully disagree with someone on an issue and still work with them to get things done for the people of Wasaga Beach. That’s how effective Councils operate.

I believe residents should feel informed and included in the decisions that affect their town. If elected, I will work to improve transparency in two practical ways.
First, I would like to see an open question period added to each Council meeting so residents have a clear opportunity to ask questions and share concerns directly with Council.
Second, I would like to produce a monthly newsletter that updates residents on what Council is working on, what decisions are coming up, and how people can get involved. Too often people only hear about issues after decisions have already been made. A simple, regular update can help close that gap.
Beyond that, I will make myself available to listen, answering messages, meeting with residents, and being present in the community. My goal is for people to feel heard, respected, and informed.
